Do I need a primer under Gel, Hard Gel or Polibuild?
No, Halo is Primer less for most systems. The only primer we have is mega bond which is for use under acrylic nail systems.
Why does my top coat have a sticky layer?
Regular Halo top coat cures with a tacky layer. Once the nail has cooled down use prep and finish plus to remove the tacky layer and apply cuticle oil.
My top coat has gone dull.
Make sure the top coat has fully cooled before applying cuticle oil. Applying oil too soon can dull the shine of the nail.
Do Halo Jellie Tips require a base coat?
Yes, always apply a base coat before applying the jellie tips & glue.
My halo gel polish is peeling and rippling once client has left the salon.
When applying Halo Gel Polish, always apply thin layers so the LED can fully cure the gel. Wipe excess product off both sides of the brush on the bottle, this leaves the perfect amount for the first layer. Repeat for the second layer, keeping it thin, to achieve a smooth finish with long-lasting retention.
What is the difference between Halo & Halo +?
Each range has a completely unique, made in different parts of the world by separate manufacturers with distinct formulas. They also have different curing times, and the pigments vary between collections.
Does rubber base go on top of base coat?
No. Rubber Base should be applied directly to the natural nail for it to work correctly. It flexes with the nail, acting like a shock absorber when the nail is knocked or bent, helping to prevent splitting and chipping.
I am experiencing lifting with the rubber base halo plus & flexi base.
Try curing the product for 120 seconds and ensure the base is applied thinly, really working it into the nail to help improve adhesion.

Can I use any lamp to cure my gel nails?
We advise using the Halo Smart Lamp to cure Halo products as it has been optimised for use with Halo products, ensuring a guaranteed cure. Using other manufacturers lamps can lead to under curing and possibly allergies.
If you are planning on using another manufacturers lamp, make sure you check this with your insurance, as failing to use a full system can invalidate your insurance.
How long do I need to cure for?
Most Halo products require curing for 30 seconds using the 48W Halo Smart Lamp. The lamp also features a low heat mode designed to help minimise heat spikes, with a cycle lasting 99 seconds.
For the exact cure time of specific systems, please refer to the relevant product pages.
How many sets of nails can I do from one 8ml Halo gel bottle?
It’s impossible to say! It depends on too many factors such as nail length, width, thickness of coats and how many coats are applied.
Is Halo Gel Polish 100% gel or hybrid?
Halo Gel Polish is 100% gel.
